The Work — 01

The build floor is the resume.

Real bikes, real builds — every one of these rolled across the floor at Iron Mike's. Customs sketched at the bench, welded in-house, dyno-tuned before they leave. Photos straight from the shop.

How a build happens — 02

Six steps. No shortcuts.

01

Consult

Pull up to the shop on Hwy 146. Talk to Mike directly — what you ride, what you want, your budget, your timeline. No gatekeeping, no middleman.

Week 0 · Free

02

Design + Spec

Sketch the geometry. Spec sheet — engine, frame, wheels, tank, paint. Costed line-by-line, signed off before a single weld hits metal.

Week 1 — 3

03

Frame + Engine

Frame goes on the jig. Engine pulled down, bench-built, then strapped to the in-house Dynojet. S&S or stock H-D displacement — your call.

Week 3 — 10

04

Fabrication

In-house metalwork — tanks, fenders, bars, exhaust. TIG welding, hammer-formed sheet metal where it matters. This is where the bike becomes one of one.

Week 8 — 16

05

Paint

Block sanded, multi-stage layered, clear-coated and cut back. Custom flake, candy, ghost flames, hand pinstripe — Gulf Coast style, none farmed out.

Week 14 — 22

06

Delivery

Shake-down run, then a final Dynojet pull. You pick up on Hwy 146 with keys, a signed spec sheet, and the full build file — every part and decision on record.

Week 18 — 26

Capabilities — 03

Five doors into the shop.

  • Dynojet certified tech on staff
  • EFI / fuel management tuning
  • Power & torque curves documented
D / Paint + Fab

Custom Paint & Fabrication

Tank, fenders, frame, full bike. Multi-stage candy, flake, ghost flames, and hand-laid pinstripe — all in-house, none farmed out.

  • 4 — 8 stage paint systems
  • TIG welding & custom metalwork
  • Hand-laid pinstripe available
E / Restorations

Unique Capability — In-House Dyno

The dyno runs
before you ride.

Iron Mike's is one of the few non-dealership shops in the Houston area with a dyno on the floor. Every custom build and performance job gets strapped down and tuned before it leaves the bay — no guessing, no "ride it and see."

That means your fuel management is dialed, your power curve is documented, and you're not coming back next week with a lean surge at 4,000 rpm. One shop. Complete result.

Mike "Iron Mike" Peterson at the bench in his shop, Bacliff TX

Meet the builder — 04

Mike “Iron Mike”
Peterson.

Mike's been turning wrenches since 1994 — first out of his own garage, pure word of mouth, no signage. By 2006 the work had outgrown the garage and he opened a proper service shop. In 2010, demand pushed him to the current location on Hwy 146 in Bacliff, right in the heart of Gulf Coast riding country.

Three decades in, nothing leaves the shop unfinished. Fabrication, paint, engine work, dyno tuning — it all happens under one roof. That's how Iron Mike's became the #1 voted shop in the Houston and Galveston areas, and why riders haul bikes in from out of state.

He works on everything — Harleys, metrics, drag builds, restorations — but customs are where it gets personal. Every build leaves with Mike's name on it, whether you can see it or not.

Brought in a 1990 Fatboy that hadn't run since 2005. They went over the whole bike, did the engine work, and had it back to me faster than I expected — and kept me in the loop the whole way.

Excellent service, spot-on repairs, and incredible custom builds. Mike and the crew take care of customers near and far — you can tell they actually care about the bike.

One of the only independent shops around here with a dyno. Got my tune dialed in-house instead of guessing. Lowest part prices I've found too — worth the ride to Bacliff.
